Guido Panizza is a Geophysicist currently working on his Ph.D thesis on Rock Physics models for unconventional reservoirs of shale type. The aim of his studies is to relate reservoir's petroacoustical properties in a concise formulation to improve early reservoir characterization. To do so, he combines poroelastic theories with data from varied sources, such as; geochemical, petrophysical, mineralogical and geomechanical data. Another important branch of his investigation lays in the geophysical upscaling problem, that is, to combine data from the microscale to the regional scale. His work also involves numerical optimization of model parameters
